How do I start?
Who is a good fit for Executive Function Coaching?
-
A student who is in 4th through 12th grade.
-
A student who is willing to identify areas in which they can improve, and wants to improve!
-
A student who is willing to try new things, even if it seems challenging.
-
A student who is willing to communicate needs.
-
Parents who are willing to be flexible with their child during this time of learning.
-
Parents who are going to be encouraging.
-
Parents who see the benefit in the coaching process and who want to team with the coach.

If you think your student will benefit from coaching, and they are willing to work with a coach (it's imperative they are willing!) Let's connect!

1
Let's chat
A 15 minute conversation to connect. I want to learn about your student and see if Executive Function Coaching would be helpful and a good fit.
2
Let's Meet
Step two in the process is meeting with you and your student.
The first meeting is to collect information. Who is the student, what do they like/dislike- what makes them tick! They will also take an Executive Function Questionnaire which will reveal their top three executive skills they are the strongest in, and their top three skills which are the weakest. This helps us develop a plan of how to accomplish the goals that will be set at the next meeting. It is required that the student is willing and onboard with the coaching process, unfortunately if the student is not willing to be coached the process will not work.

If you are feeling good about working together, and would like Kari score the Executive Function Questionnaire and begin to write up a plan to harness your strengths and develop skills to strengthen your weaknesses, a $200 initial fee will be collected. Since plan development takes quite a bit of time, this fee is non-refundable, however if you chose to work with me (see #3) this $200 will go towards coaching.
3
Define coaching plan + goals
After our meeting, the Executive Skills Questionnaire will be scored to determine strengths and weaknesses. A plan will be developed that's congruent with your student's goals to strengthen the weak areas and leverage their strengths. A phone call or in person meeting will be scheduled to go over the findings, plan, and financial investment. If this is a path that your student would like to pursue, we will start the coaching process.
4
Coach
You, your student, and I will set up a time to define goals and begin with a few manageable tasks/starting points. Weekly check-in (via text, email or phone call- your preference) will ensure we are working towards our goals. Coaching looks different for every student, and the coaching process is tailored for each person. We may find as the coaching process begins, that we need to pivot and focus on something different- before being able to tackle what may seem obvious. Communication is key during the coaching process and the ONLY way coaching will be successful. I am willing to work with teachers and school staff if it might help the student reach their goals more efficiently and effectively.
It's normal as a parent to have mixed emotions during the coaching process because you want to see your child succeed and ease their burdens; but remember just like any other type of coaching it, takes time, consistency, and persistence to learn something new. Stay positive! We all can learn something new!
5
Empower
As we work our way through the coaching process, there will come a time where a shift may happen- your student becomes more confident, they may start to using the tools he or she has learned on their own, and anxiety has lessened. You will start to see your student start to thrive! This is a great time to taper the coaching process. Again, tapering for each student will look different, but in all circumstances it will be a reduction in contact with me, with added encouragement of problem solving and skill use, and empowerment!
